Building a Code Snippets Manager - Looking for Feedback on MVP Stage

Hey everyone!

I'm new to the startup space and looking to learn from you all.

Currently, I'm working on a simple Code Snippet Manager to help developers store and organize their reusable code snippets. It’s still in the early MVP stage, and I’d love to get some feedback from the community.

Right now, the focus is on:

  • Quickly saving and retrieving snippets
  • A clean, distraction-free interface
  • Syntax highlighting for Python, HTML, and CSS

I’m curious—what features would make a tool like this truly useful for you? Would you prefer a minimal offline version or something cloud-based with sharing options?

If you’ve built or used similar tools before, I’d love to hear your thoughts! Any feedback or suggestions would be super helpful.

Thanks in advance!

why make it a code snippet, instead of something that people would look up ? think shadcn/ui. it has snippets of code that provide a direct utility.

re-consider what your market (or yourself) would search for.

Hey Ari, thanks for the feedback! Just for clarification - Are you suggesting I should focus more on providing ready-to-use snippets that people actively search for, rather than just storing their own?

That’s an interesting angle—I’d love to hear more about what you mean.

Yes, Kes. Think of code that is often used in authentication scenarios -- that's a common use case, when developing an app.

It could be a great way to make one's code accessible to others as well.

I understand the front end market is rather saturated, but there's room in the middlewares (think rate limiting/caching) and back end / api routes realm.

Thanks once again, Ari.

I see what you mean, and I appreciate the feedback. I plan to work on a "Discover" feature that makes ready-to-use snippets more accessible and easier to find. I'm still figuring out the details though but I appreciate the insight. By the way, what kind of code do you personally find yourself searching for often?

Cool product. I would use it if
- My snippets are encrypted and saved to the cloud automatically
- I can organize snippets in folders
- The UI looks more clean

Maybe you could try to make it look like vscode a bit? So with the folder browser where you can organize snippets?

But very cool product man!

Thanks a lot, Vincent for your feedback!

I'm already working on adding folder storage and I plan to support cloud storage down the line. And I'll definitely make changes to the UI.

Honestly, since this is my first product, I'm still figuring things out and feeling pretty overwhelmed with a lot of info online. Do you have any tips on how I can better validate this tool? I'd really appreciate your guidance!

Awesome, love it! To validate it better I'd message people and just ask them for their opinions. Also family / friends.

And may I ask you a question, did you reply a few times and delete the comment? It's because I got 3 notifications and don't know if my notification system is working well or not haha

Thanks!
