Alterable and Movable Ink both put content into an email at the moment someone opens it, so the countdown, the price or the image is current. They solve different problems. Alterable renders the rules you set. Movable Ink is a platform that also decides what each customer should see.

Alterable
Alterable makes images for email that are drawn again each time the email is opened. It has nine services: countdown timers, dynamic images, dynamic products, local maps, slideshows, surveys, polls, scratchers and critical messages. You build them in a browser and paste one image tag into your email platform, whether that's Klaviyo, Mailchimp, HubSpot or another one. The free plan has 5,000 impressions a month, and the paid plans are $19, $79 and $299 a month. Our Alterable review goes through the plans and limits in detail.
Movable Ink
Movable Ink calls itself a Programmatic CRM. It has two products. Studio generates content that is unique to each customer at the moment they engage, and Da Vinci is an AI decisioning product that selects content for each customer in batch messaging programs. It has pages for email, mobile and web, and it lists nearly 100 verified partner integrations. Pricing isn't published, and the main button on its site is a demo request.
Where Alterable is better
- Prices are public and start at $0. You can see what 100,000 impressions a month costs before talking to anyone.
- The free plan lets you send real campaigns: 5,000 impressions a month, no card, no time limit.
- You build in a browser and paste one image tag into an email, so you can test a first campaign on the free plan the same day you sign up.
- The API and the MCP server are included from the $19 Starter plan, which lets developers and AI assistants create timers and images.
- Every plan allows unlimited teams and teammates, which suits an agency that wants a workspace per client.
Where Movable Ink is better
- Decisioning. Da Vinci chooses the content, and Alterable only renders rules you write yourself. If you have forty variants and want software to decide who gets which, Alterable can't do that.
- Channels. Movable Ink works in email, mobile and web. Alterable has no SMS, push or website personalization.
- Integrations. Movable Ink lists nearly 100 verified partner integrations. Alterable works with any email platform that accepts an image tag and has setup guides for ten of them, but names far fewer than Movable Ink's directory.
- Two products. Studio personalizes content per customer and Da Vinci decides what to send, so one vendor handles both the content and the choice.
How the pricing compares
Alterable's plans are Free at $0 for 5,000 impressions a month, Starter at $19 for 20,000, Pro at $79 for 100,000 and Scale at $299 for 500,000. Extra impressions cost between $0.65 and $1 per 1,000, depending on the plan, and annual billing gives you two months free. There's no minimum contract.
Movable Ink doesn't publish a price list. Its site points visitors to a demo request. That's normal for enterprise software, but it means you can't compare the two on cost until you've booked a call. If budget is the first thing you need to settle, Alterable gives you the number in a minute.
Which one should you pick?
If you run CRM for a large brand, have a data warehouse and a budget to match, and your problem is deciding which of many variants each customer gets, Movable Ink is the one to book a demo with. It also makes sense when the personalization has to run in mobile and web next to email.
If your problem is that the content in your emails goes stale, Alterable costs less and takes less time to start. The countdown ended two days ago, the product sold out, or the "ends tonight" banner has been up all week. You can test one block on the free plan first. If you later want more volume, Starter is $19 a month for 20,000 impressions, and Pro adds local maps and A/B tests for $79.
If you can't tell which problem you have, count how many decisions a person currently makes by hand before each send. When the answer is a handful of rules like "show this image to mobile readers" or "switch the banner at midnight", you're in Alterable territory. When it's hundreds of customer segments, you're in Movable Ink territory.
