Both are one-time purchases. Both include authentication, billing, and a marketing site. They are built for different products.
ShipFast is cheaper and simpler. supastarter costs more and includes team workspaces, an admin panel, and five payment providers.
ShipFast is Marc Lou's single Next.js app. You clone the repository, fill in your environment variables, and start the app. It is $199, and it does not include organization accounts, an admin panel, or translations.
supastarter is Jonathan Wilke's Turborepo. The Next.js kit puts your marketing site, your app, your docs, and your email previews in separate apps. Solo is $299. It includes organization accounts, invites, an admin panel, translations, and five payment providers.

How to choose
Pick ShipFast if you are a solo founder launching one Next.js product for individual users. All-in includes the Discord community, which claims over 5,000 members. New releases are rare. ShipFast's FAQ lists an update around February 2026, and the Beehiiv newsletter has been quiet since December 16, 2024. Buy it for what it does today.
Pick supastarter if your customers need to invite teammates into a shared workspace. Solo is $299 and includes that, plus an admin panel, translations, and a typed API. You have to be comfortable with Turborepo. You will spend time learning how the apps and packages fit together, and when a new version comes out you rebase your code on top of the upstream repository.
We score supastarter 4.6 and ShipFast 4.3. If you do not need organizations, ShipFast is the better buy.
Price and licenses
ShipFast starts at $199 for the Starter kit. All-in is $249 and adds Discord, the Leaderboard, and partner discounts. The $299 bundle adds Marc's CodeFast course. Every tier is one-time, with unlimited projects and lifetime updates on that kit. ShipFast does not offer refunds. You have the GitHub repository as soon as you pay.
supastarter Solo is $299 for one GitHub seat, unlimited personal projects, and Discord. Startup is $799 for up to five seats. Agency is $1,499 for up to ten seats and client work. Each framework is a separate license. If you want Next.js, Nuxt, and TanStack Start, that is three purchases, not one.
Starter is $199 and Solo is $299, so you pay a hundred dollars more for supastarter. That money buys organization accounts, an admin panel, translations, and three extra payment providers: Polar, Creem, and Dodo. It also means you have to learn a monorepo.
Stack, authentication, and billing
ShipFast is Next.js only, in JavaScript or TypeScript, with the App Router or the Pages Router. Authentication runs on NextAuth with Google and magic links. Magic links are the default, and password login takes extra setup. You can store data in MongoDB with Mongoose, or in Supabase. Billing is Stripe or Lemon Squeezy. Email is Mailgun or Resend.
supastarter's Next.js kit uses better-auth, which covers passwords, OAuth, magic links, passkeys, and two-factor authentication. You pick Prisma or Drizzle on Postgres, MySQL, or SQLite. Payments run through one interface for Stripe, Lemon Squeezy, Polar, Creem, and Dodo, so if you switch providers later you do not rewrite checkout. The API layer uses Hono with oRPC.
ShipFast is one Next.js app. supastarter is a Turborepo. If you only need a landing page and a dashboard, the single app is easier. If you want a marketing site, an app, docs, and shared UI in one repository, Turborepo is worth learning. We explain that split in What is Turborepo?.
Teams, admin, and translations
The biggest difference is organizations.
ShipFast has no organization accounts, no team roles, no admin panel, and no built-in translations. That is fine for a consumer app. It is a problem if your users work in companies.
supastarter includes multi-tenancy, invites, seat-based billing, roles, an admin panel, and translations. That is why we call it the better B2B kit in our SaaS boilerplate reviews.

Docs, updates, and help
ShipFast's docs are clear for first setup: DNS, authentication, and payments. After that, you are mostly on your own. The community will help you in the Discord server on the All-in plan. You should not expect regular help from Marc.
supastarter's docs cover setup, authentication, payments, the database, the API, and deploys. You can download them as Markdown for your coding agent. Buyers say Jonathan answers in Discord and pushes GitHub fixes the same day. Updates are regular. When a new version comes out, you rebase your code on top of the upstream repository.
